P5 August 2014
Hello and welcome to the first term of P5! We’re all excited to get back to Murrayburn after a lovely summer break. Please read on to find out more about what’s happening this term.
Learning and Teaching
This term we will be studying a Friendship Topic, Space and Jesus and Key Figures. We will also have responsibility for maintaining the raised beds and will be getting outside and getting our hands dirty! As part of our technology we will be making protective covers for the raised beds. We will be setting up literacy and maths groups over the coming weeks and some children will get the opportunity to participate in our Fresh Start programme for literacy – more details to follow.
We are lucky enough to have Mrs Moodie supporting pupils in P5 this year.
P.E. lessons will be on Mondays and Wednesdays. Please ensure that your child has the correct gym kit and gym rubbers as soon as possible. Any jewellery will have to be removed – it is probably best for your child not to be wearing jewellery at all on P.E. days to save the risk of items getting lost.
In a few weeks’ time, we will be starting to give out homework. Tasks will be set on Monday and will be due in on the following Thursday. Each week, there will be a maths and spelling task. There may also be an extended topic task. Thank you for your continued support with this.
Please check every day to see if your child has brought home any letters. A lot of these will have tear off slips to be returned – it would be very helpful if these can come back promptly.
