P6 Newsletter April 2014

April 2014

We’ve come to the final term of P6 already! It’s a busy one ahead – please have a look at what’s coming up.

Learning and Teaching

This term we     will be studying Renewable Energy along with our trip to Torness Power     Station and we’ll even be making paper! We will also be learning about     Keeping Myself Safe (which we had an information evening for before     Christmas). We will also be taking part in a whole-school Commonwealth     Games project. The countries that we will study will be selected at random     at an upcoming assembly.

Dates for Your Diary

Thurs 1st     May – Trip to Torness

Mon 5th     May – May Day Holiday

Fri 16th     May – Forrester Sports Event

Mon 19th     May – Victoria Day Holiday

Thurs 22nd     May – Inset Day

Fri 13th     June – P4-7 Sports Day

Fri 27th     June – End of Session

Just a     friendly reminder that homework is handed out on Mondays and due in on     Thursdays. The children learn vital life skills just by getting themselves     organised and it allows them to consolidate the learning that is happening     in class. Thank you for your continued support with this.

Classroom Support

Mrs Scyner     will be continuing to support pupils in both classes.  6a also have the pleasure of welcoming Ms     Cotter into class for the next 5 weeks, and in June will be joined by Mrs     Geidd, a teacher from America who will be visiting our school.

Please ensure     that your child arrives every morning for the bell at 8.45am. Children who     arrive late disrupt the class and take longer to settle.

School Letters

Please check     every day to see if your child has brought home any letters. A lot of these     will have tear off slips to be returned – it would be very helpful if these     can come back promptly.

And finally….

– Many thanks     for those of you who have provided their child with a house-coloured     t-shirt and black shorts. P.E. kits must be in school every day. Please     remember that kits will be sent home for washing before every holiday.

– Please     ensure your child has gym rubbers in school so that they can participate in     P.E. safely and that they can change into warm, dry shoes if it is wet     outside.

– If you have     any questions or queries about anything please get in touch.  Thank you for all your support.

Miss J     McDonald (6a) & Mrs J Ridland (6b)
